| IN HOUSE TRAINING AND FACILITATION | Foundations of TPM (Total Productive Maintenance)
|
| This newly revised workshop, based on fifteen years’ experience of introducing TPM in the UK, outlines a practical approach to implementing TPM based on the principles developed by the Japan Institute of Plant Maintenance over the last thirty years. ‘T Total’ in TPM means involving everyone in the plan. ’ Productive Maintenance’ means focusing maintenance activity on improving the efficiency of equipment and reducing production costs - it regards equipment maintenance as an improvement process to be optimised, not a cost to be minimised. TPM activities can be seen to follow the familiar ‘Measure, Analyse, Improve, Control’ cycle popularised in Six Sigma. Equipment Efficiency is measured using the Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE) metric, analysed using Loss Analysis and improved through a combination of restoration, improvement and maintenance activities. It is then controlled through the development of effective maintenance standards. | | In addition to the fundamental TPM pillars of Autonomous Maintenance and Focused Improvement, this new workshop outlines new approaches to Planned Maintenance through Maintenance Decision Logic . Our action learning approach means participants will work in teams to complete exercises and discuss what TPM means to their operation.
