Kanban (literally  'ticket')  is the name given to pull production systems in which subsequent processes give signals to preceding processes to produce materials or components. Developed as part of the Toyota Production System, Kanban enables Just in Time production, dramatically reduces work in progress and virtually eliminates stock obsolescence.  Kanban is an essential tool for flow production.
